EFCC Not Only Fights Fraudsters, It Also Commends Upright Nigerians – Olukoyede

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has disclosed that the Commission places a premium on commending upright Nigerians who uphold anti-corruption values, while also holding fraudulent individuals accountable for their criminal activities.

He made this disclosure in Abuja on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, while delivering a speech at the Business Grant Award Ceremony convened by the Jerry Eze Foundation.

The EFCC boss narrated how the Commission investigated Jerry Eze, Founder of Streams of Joy International, over allegations of money laundering for six months, and found no evidence linking him to any financial crime.

“I want Nigerians to know that the EFCC is not just about investigating and prosecuting fraudsters; it is also about appreciating and commending Nigerians who are not involved in any form of economic and financial crimes. I commended Pastor Jerry Eze when our investigations showed that he was not involved in money laundering,” he said.

Olukoyede also warned religious leaders against corrupt practices, stressing that integrity should be the watchword of adherents of every religion.

Speaking on the 240 small-scale business owners supported with grants of $3,000 each by the Jerry Eze Foundation, the anti-graft chairman noted that such gestures represent a meaningful contribution to nation-building. He urged Nigerians to emulate such efforts by positively impacting lives around them.

He further commended President Bola Tinubu for approving the release of ₦100 billion from the EFCC’s Recovery Account to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation as seed capital for their take-off.

“Now, we are working on a Cybercrime Research Centre to empower our youth in the area of information technology for the optimization of their talents. We believe that our youths can deploy their talents to socially beneficial purposes,” he added.
